This school has a lot of problems and it may not be just with this location, which is incredibly disheartening to say. I managed to do every student survey pleading for change, but I had never had anyone contact me over it, which was one of the many reasons for my eventual decision to transfer elsewhere. The preliminary courses, such as College Math are situated in an incredibly negative environment, where they encourage quickly getting through the course over mastery and understanding of concepts...the last week of class they pass out surveys asking why so many students choose to drop out, but the problem is most likely that the work is done on a computer, the education is provided by a computer, and (in the case of my instructor), any help you may need with a specific problem is something you may be publicly ostracized for; the instructor chose to shame students for issues like dyslexia instead of working with them, so asking for help is really out of the question. Not all courses are like this, but the inability to get help for the things you really need is a huge detriment to your education and it's something prevalent across much of the school. As for the courses, most of them, with the exception of general eds, will be taught online in 8 week courses and often by instructors outside of your field of study, so industry-pertinent knowledge is hugely lacking as well. There's a lot more unfortunately that this brief review cannot cover, and yet the school wants to know what they're doing wrong without actually taking in that input from students and faculty and commiting to it. As a result, I eventually decided I had to leave and transfer elsewhere, to an environment that more-so encouraged education, understanding, and industry relevant knowledge, in hopes of a higher quality schooling. The one positive thing I can take from this terrible experience in my life is that I can now begin to appreciate the value of a great education; it's just unfortunate that it has to be elsewhere.
