Premier Health Partners is the absolute epitome of everything that is wrong with the American health system. They typify corporate greed, poor quality and an absolute disregard for any kind of customer service. From my experience, here's what you can expect when you see a specialist at Premier Health Partners/Good Sam North

(Oh and the happy ending is that I went to see a specialist that's part of Kettering and had an incredibly good experience. She was knowledgeable, answered all of my questions, I was billed only for my co-pay and her office gave me a card to complete an online survey about my experience that's used to evaluate her. Now that's customer service--something Premier doesn't know anything about.

3.) After your visit with your specialist, you'll get two bills. One for your co-pay for a normal office visit and a second one for an "outpatient treatment room". Humana won't pay that one because its not coded correctly and looks like you had an out patient procedure done.

4.) When you call the billing department to try to straighten it out. They'll tell you the bill is for the outpatient procedure you had done and that its subject to a deductible. When you tell them you just had an office visit with a specialist and no procedure, they'll promise to look into and get back to you (4 times so far!). They won't. Unless you count a threatening past due statement as getting back to you.

Do yourself a huge favour. Ask any medical practitioner that you're considering seeing if they're part of Premier Health. If they say "yes"--RUN! I'm firing every doctor I see that's part of Premier down to my primary care doctor and going elsewhere.

2.) The time you're with your doctor, they'll stare at a computer screen, won't ask any questions and will jump to conclusions about your lifestyle then look up something on their iPhone and send you on your way with a prescription. (I didn't know that I could be a doctor--I can look things up on WebMD as well as the next).

5.) Customer services? Forget it. Go ahead. Fill out the contact form on their web site and tell them about the unresponsiveness of their billing department, etc. Crickets. Not a single contact back.

My wife came to the ER Wed night with stomach pains. She was admitted and was there until this morning. Everyone was so kind and gracious. Her care was outstanding. We will use this hospital as needed.

1.) Poor quality. You'll wait an hour and a half for your appointment time (this was for a regular doctor consultation, not a procedure or anything unusual). As an informed, engaged patient you may ask some questions about studies that have recently been reported or things you've read about your condition. The answer I received (and I quote) "I don't know". That really instill confidence.
